Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using CarrierOwl (carrierowl.com), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site. We may update these terms at any time, and continued use after changes means you accept the revised terms.
What CarrierOwl provides
CarrierOwl is a free lookup tool that displays publicly available data from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). We present carrier records, safety scores, inspection results, and crash data sourced from FMCSA datasets. We do not generate, modify, or independently verify this data.
No warranty on data accuracy
Carrier data on CarrierOwl comes from FMCSA public records and is provided "as is." We make no guarantees about its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. FMCSA data may contain errors, delays, or omissions. Do not rely on CarrierOwl as the sole basis for business, insurance, or hiring decisions. Always verify critical information directly with FMCSA.
Not affiliated with FMCSA
CarrierOwl is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the U.S. Department of Transportation, or any government agency. "FMCSA," "USDOT," "BASIC," and related terms are used for descriptive purposes only.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download data from CarrierOwl for commercial resale
- Overload our servers with automated requests beyond reasonable use
- Attempt to access restricted areas of the site or its infrastructure
- Use CarrierOwl data to harass, defame, or discriminate against any carrier or individual
Reasonable programmatic access for research or personal use is fine. If you need bulk FMCSA data, you can download it directly from FMCSA's public data portal.
Limitation of liability
CarrierOwl and its operators are not liable for any damages arising from your use of this site, including but not limited to decisions made based on carrier data displayed here. This limitation applies whether the claim is based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other legal theory.
Intellectual property
FMCSA carrier data is public domain. The CarrierOwl name, logo, design, and original content (page layouts, summaries, educational text) are owned by CarrierOwl. You may link to any page on CarrierOwl without permission. You may not reproduce the site design or present CarrierOwl content as your own.
