CarrierOwl is operated by Copyvisor OÜ, registry code 16023836, Aia tn 5-3, 10111 Tallinn, Estonia. Copyvisor OÜ is responsible for the processing described in this policy.

Information we collect

CarrierOwl is a free lookup tool. We do not require you to create an account. If you submit a newsletter, sample report, insurance quote, or contact form, we collect the information you provide, such as your email address, company details, phone number, DOT/MC number, and message.

When you visit CarrierOwl, our servers automatically record standard log data: your IP address, browser type, referring page, pages visited, and the time of each request. This data is used for security monitoring and aggregate traffic analysis. We do not link this information to individual identities.

Cookies

Essential site functions do not require advertising cookies. Optional Google Analytics is loaded only after you select “Allow analytics” in the consent notice. Your choice is stored in your browser and can be reset by clearing site storage.

Carrier data

All carrier information displayed on CarrierOwl comes from public FMCSA datasets maintained by the U.S. Department of Transportation. This data is public domain under the Freedom of Information Act and is not considered private or personal information. We do not collect, store, or display any information beyond what FMCSA publishes.

Third-party services

We do not sell personal information to data brokers or advertisers. Hosting and database providers may process information for us. If you submit an insurance request and give explicit consent, we may share it with a licensed insurance provider or agent able to review the request. Availability and a quotation are not guaranteed. Google processes analytics data only when analytics has been allowed.

Data retention

Server logs are retained for up to 90 days. Contact, report, beta, carrier-claim and insurance requests are normally retained for up to 24 months after the last interaction, unless a longer period is reasonably required for security, disputes, accounting or legal obligations. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

Your rights

You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or other rights available under applicable privacy law by contacting david@carrierowl.com. We may need to verify your identity. You may unsubscribe from newsletter messages using the link in the message or by emailing us. Since carrier data originates from FMCSA, corrections to carrier records should be directed to FMCSA directly through their DataQs system.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of CarrierOwl after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
